The Global Health Program of Distinction Award

CONGRATULATIONS!

The Global Health Program of Distinction Award was just presented to the Andrija Štampar School of Public Health’s “Health- Plan for It” program.  The program is being recognized for its extraordinary accomplishments of institutionalizing evidence-based health planning at the local, district, national and regional levels.  Croatian MIPH graduates who are faculty at the Stampar School initiated the program to assist Croatian county health departments to reorient public health planning from the central to the county level and assure resources are directed to local priorities.  The MIPH graduates’ accomplishments include: 1) helping to build Health – Plan for It programs in all Croatian counties and the City of Zagreb; 2) persuading the Croatian government to enact legislation to make the Health – Plan for It approach standard procedure across the country; 3) helping MIPH graduates in Macedonia and Serbia establish similar programs in their countries.

World Economic Forum Report "Sustainable Health Systems"

 

The World Economic Forum has just published a new report on Sustainable Health Systems. I received it through Dr. Adriana Galan, Alternate, National Health Coordinator, Ministry of Health, Romania.

 

In the preface, Mr. Klaus Schwab , Executive Chairman, World Economic Forum highlights that:

 

"The World Economic Forum has made health a priority global initiative, recognizing it as central to the Forum’s overall mission to improve the state of the world.

Looking at health as a fundamental economic issue, the Forum aims to address two major gaps-access to health and access to care - making health and care an investment for economic development and growth.".

 Now, when the Regional Cooperation Council and the SEE Regional Cooperation Process are working on developing the SEE 2020 Strategy, it is worth reading the WEForum book, as they recognize that health and the sustainable health systems are important to growth and development!

The EU 2013 work plan for the Health Programme is adopted

Dear SEE Health Network Members,

The EU has recently published its 2013 work plan for the health programme. See the link to it below as it is of highest importance to the SEE Health Network and its ongoing work under the auspices of the RCC to include health into the future SEE 2020 Strategy.

The recent news from the EU Portal recognise that:

"People’s health is a key asset for society and for the economy. A healthy population will play an important role in achieving the Europe 2020 targets for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth.
Amidst the current economic crisis, this work plan will address new challenges in health, whilst also promoting work in more 'traditional' areas, and will pave the way for the new Health for Growth programme beginning in 2014 by bridging action between the current and the future programme."

The 8th Global Conference on Health Promotion 2013

The 8th Global Conference on Health Promotion (8GCHP) will be held at the Finlandia Hall in Helsinki, Finland, on June 10-14 2013. The conference is co-organized by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health of Finland.

SEEHN Israeli Presidency Report

The SEEHN Presidency held by the State of Israel (July-December 2012) has finalized the activity report. You can read or download a copy of the report by clicking here.

Starting from 1 January 2013 the SEEHN Presidency is held by the Republic of Moldova.
